The palace designed by Miklós Ybl was inaugurated in the presence of Francis Joseph I on 28 September 1884,
exactly 134 years ago: still, our traditional concert is not a mathematical oversight, as it is to underline the opening
of the 135th season. The concert is linked with the theme of the season but it provides a selection of works
premiered by the concert orchestra established by the musicians of the Opera, the Philharmonic Society.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances.
